Program Description

A Deep Dive hosted by Scott Frank, centered on the work of Terry Riley, a pioneer in the minimalist movement of 20th-century classical music. Influenced by jazz, Indian classical traditions, and devotional practice, Riley’s work moves fluidly across disciplines, and left a lasting impact on ambient and electronic music.

This session traces Riley’s evolution as a composer and performer through carefully selected recordings, with particular attention to his modal and devotional periods. Moving between structure and improvisation, repetition and transcendence, this program will open space for reflection, drift, and deep listening.
