Program Description
Presenting a Deep Dive with Meg Samples, an exploration shaped by her roots in jazz, musical craft, and storytelling, tracing the drummers and recordings that continue to resonate across time.

About Meg Samples
Meg has spent her life in conversation with rhythm. Rooted in the jazz tradition, she honed her craft studying and performing in Louisville, Kentucky before bringing her talents to Portland, Oregon in 2019. A performer, educator, and champion for the power of music, Meg serves as Interim General Manager at KMHD, Portland's home for jazz and boundary-pushing sound. In that role, she brings the same instincts she's developed behind the kit: attentiveness, timing, and a deep respect for the ensemble. She has directed percussion ensembles, taught private lessons, and continues to perform, living out her belief that great music is built on as much listening as it is playing.
