Gallery Hours
Curated by Alisa Wilbon

Community Access

Mono Space presents Gallery Hours, curated by Alisa Wilbon, drawing from recordings across Neo-Soul, Alternative, R&B and Afro-diasporic genres. The program aims to create space for intimate reflection and imagination while sharing a musical narrative grounded in Black stories.

Alisa envisions this Saturday as a invitation for listeners to enter her groove-driven world of story telling, rooted in Black lineage. Recordings from Solange, Kokoroko, Dorothy Ashby, Sampha, Stevie Wonder and others will be featured throughout the day.

About Alisa Wilbon

Alisa Wilbon is a DJ, designer and curator shaped by the music that surrounded her. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and is now based in Portland, DJing at venues across the city and curating vibrant art experiences.

Alisa began playing the violin at the age of five, an early practice that carried her through her teenage years and into a position at Columbia College Chicago at the Center for Black Music Research. There, her engagement with Black music deepened, and would set her on a journey to explore and discover sounds and rhythms from around the world. It was in Chicago were she first encountered house, jazz and soul genres, revealing the space they created for reflection, feeling and connection.

The Listening Experience

Gallery Hours are free and open to the public. Held on Saturdays from 12 to 5 pm, they offer an open way to experience Mono Space and the OJAS high fidelity sound system. Guests are welcome to arrive at any point to spend time with the system, browse the library and gift shop, grab some tea, and listen to a rotating selection of curated recordings, seated or moving through the space as they like. Gallery Hours are held as a quiet, shared listening environment. Details about visiting the space can be found in the FAQs.
