Community Access

Program Description

Batom curates gallery hours at Mono Space, a celebration of culture, bringing together music from across the globe, both new and old. The curation weaves ambient and textured electronics from Japan, Mexico, and Ethiopia with Brazilian soul, MPB, and gentle, groove-driven selections. The set will move fluidly between regions and eras, highlighting the connection between these sounds and inviting listeners into a space of warmth and discovery.

About Batom

Batom is a Portland, Oregon-based multidisciplinary artist, DJ, illustrator, experience designer, and member of Silicon Radio whose work orbits a single, stubborn feeling: the ache of early adulthood you want to keep reliving. Her sets are soothing and uplifting, reaching for music that sounds like open windows, late-night drives, and rooms full of people you already miss. She chases feelings. Deeply inspired by the travels and people that shaped her as a young adult, you will often find her playing releases from around the world, a reminder that when connection runs deeper than language, everybody belongs. Her illustrations carry the same spirit: naive, direct, and fun. Batom has shared the stage with Coco Maria, Elado, Sound Metaphors, SpaceGhost, Daisybelle, and Stella Zekri, and has brought her sound beyond the US to Mexico City, Melbourne and Tokyo.

The Listening Experience

Gallery Hours are free and open to the public. Held on Saturdays from 12 to 5 pm, they offer an open way to experience Mono Space and the OJAS high fidelity sound system. Guests are welcome to arrive at any point to spend time with the system, browse the library and gift shop, grab some tea, and listen to a rotating selection of curated recordings, seated or moving through the space as they like. Gallery Hours are held as a quiet, shared listening environment. Details about visiting the space can be found in the FAQs.
