Presented by Mono Space, this Gallery Hours traces the polished side of soul, where gospel-rooted feeling and deep rhythm meet jazz harmony, orchestral arrangement, and meticulous studio craft. Moving from late-1960s soul-jazz and the lush strings and horns of Philadelphia soul through quiet storm and later R&B, the selections follow a lineage of music built on restraint, detail, and emotional directness. Elegant Soul is less a fixed genre than a point of view: warm, spacious recordings whose sophistication never comes at the expense of groove.
The Listening Experience
Gallery Hours are free and open to the public, and offer an open way to experience Mono Space and the OJAS high fidelity sound system. The program lasts from Noon - 5PM, with doors opening at Noon. Guests are welcome to arrive at any point to spend time with the system, browse the library and gift shop, purchase beverages, and listen to a rotating selection of curated recordings. Seating is on a first-come, first serve basis. If we reach capacity, a line will form, and guests will be admitted on a one-out, one-in basis.
Minimal photography is encouraged. Guests are welcome to capture a moment, but are asked to keep photography unobtrusive. This is a scroll-free space—please step outside for phone use.
Guests are asked to speak softly and keep conversation to a minimum.
