About Neal Morgan
Neal, a Portland-based musician, has released five albums, including 2025’s double LP PAW, which Willamette Week called “one of the more intriguing collections of music to come out of Portland in recent memory.” He is best known for his work as a drummer and arranger with Joanna Newsom (2006–2015, including Have One on Me and Divers) and Bill Callahan (2009–2012, including Apocalypse), as well as collaborations with Amen Dunes, Roy Harper, and other adventurous songwriters.
His work also extends to film soundtracks, including Wild Wild Country. Beyond music, Morgan is an electoral organizer, custom art framer, and gives talks on artists such as Philip Guston. He was Born and raised in Nevada City, California.
The Listening Experience
This program is part of Mono Space’s intentional listening series, a seated, focused format centered around the OJAS hi-fi sound system. Sessions last 60 to 90 minutes, with 30 minutes of open listening before and after. Up to 50 guests gather in a shared setting to experience curated recordings, guided by a host who offers context and reflections as the music unfolds. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase. Phones and cameras are set aside to support attention and presence.
