Mono Space presents the inaugural In Exchange program with Jazz Is a Meta Genre. The conversation, led by program director of KMHD Matt Fleeger, will share distinct selections that illustrate the breadth and elasticity of the Jazz Without Boundaries radio format.
Program Description
Jazz, among the most enduring and expansive forms a music created, emerged alongside the advent of recording technology and would become the first ‘popular’ music. For over a century, it has given birth to and been influenced by countless genres and categories of sound. From its earliest forms to boundary-pushing present and future, this sessions invites listening and conversation around what defines Jazz and how it continues to evolve.

With over 30 years experience in music curation (primarily in the radio industry), Matt Fleeger blends a deep passion for music discovery with a commitment to innovative programming. For the past 16 years, he's been the driving force behind KMHD -Jazz Without Boundaries, shaping its sound, brand, and creative vision. The Jazz Without Boundaries radio format that he developed is unique in radio—seeing Jazz as the 'life giver' to all popular music, his primary goal is to explore the space between sound and mysticism in each of his endeavors.
About In Exchange
In Exchange centers on live dialogue, bringing music and conversation together in a shard, seated gallery environment around the OJAS high fidelity sound system. Presenters and guests take part in a shared discussion, with curated recordings woven through the session. Programs last 60 to 90 minutes, with 30 minutes of open listening afterward. Guests gather to listen closely and take part in the exchange. Phones and cameras are set aside to support a focused, shared room. Details about visiting the space can be found in the FAQs.
