Through attentive listening and reflection, the experience invite participants to encounter her music as a spiritual offering—one that transcends genre, time, and form—revealing sound as a pathway to devotion, transcendence, and inner stillness.
About Roman Norfleet
Roman Norfleet is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, visual artist, and interdisciplinary cultural producer whose work lives at the intersection of sound, ritual, and liberation, rooted in Black improvisational and spiritual traditions and guided by ancestral presence.
His creative practice is a devotion to sound as sacred technology—a vehicle for healing, transformation, and collective memory. Norfleet is the founder and creative director of Be Present Art Group (BPAG), a collective dedicated to cultivating community-based performance, visual expression, and spiritual practice, and the founder of The Cosmic Tones Research Trio, a metaphysical sound research collective exploring the cosmic and emotional possibilities of collective improvisation. Together, these projects carry forward the legacy of cosmic Black music with humility and innovation.
The Listening Experience
This program is part of Mono Space’s intentional listening series, a seated, focused format centered around the OJAS hi-fi sound system. Sessions last 60 to 90 minutes, with 30 minutes of open listening before and after. Up to 50 guests gather in a shared setting to experience curated recordings, guided by a host who offers context and reflections as the music unfolds. Non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.
