On November 8th, Mono Space curated our Gallery Hours program as a daylong tribute to D’Angelo (1974–2025). The beloved artist’s entire discography (Brown Sugar, Voodoo, Black Messiah, and Live at the Jazz Cafe) was presented on the hi-fi sound system and saw the gallery at capacity attendance throughout each playback.
It was profound that so many would gather together to share in a collective listening experience of D’Angelo’s music in the tragic wake of his passing. Thank you to everyone who participated for bringing such a warm community spirit to the day.
The morning began with a lossless audio mix that offered listeners deep cuts, remixes, collaborations, and rarities by D’Angelo, while also contextualizing his music alongside recordings by those of his contemporaries, fellow Soulquarians, and artists that inspired him.
