Retrospective: D'Angelo
Presented by Alex Newman and Vursatyl

Despite recording and releasing just three albums in his lifetime, D’Angelo impacted music in a way few artists have. On Valentine’s night, we invited listeners into an intentional, listening-led evening built around his work, hosted by Alex Newman and Vursatyl.

Through selections from across his catalog and shared dialogue, the session reflected on love, vulnerability, and the deep sense of care that runs through his music, making it feel both intimate and timeless. All recordings were played through the OJAS hi-fi sound system, allowing the detail and warmth of the music to fully unfold.

Following the program, we screened a short MTV UK documentary produced and directed by Emily Barnes shortly after Voodoo’s release in the listening gallery. Explore the evening through the photos of Kevin Horstmann below.
